I don't understand something...
If you work for $5.15/hr at a regular, 40-hour-a-week pace, you make around 56% of the POVERTY level. So, to work a 40-hour week and make it above the poverty level, the minimum wage would need to be ~$9.25/hr.
In cities that have raised their minimum wages to a "living wage," employment AND the economy have both improved.
So why are the Republicans stonewalling a proposal to raise the minimum wage to $7.25 in 3 installments over two years? Probably two reasons at work here: It's not their idea, and it takes money out of the pockets of those CEO's who, let's face it, deserve every last bit of money that they can swindle out of us before we stand up and say, "ENOUGH!"
