Running in circles?

We're turning so many corners in Iraq, we MUST be running in circles.

Reverse Robin Hoods, Part 1

You bastards.

Couldn't find it in your heart to raise the minimum wage, could you? No sympathy at all for the least among us - their poor, huddled masses, yearning to finally live something resembling an American Dream? No, no pity for the majority at all.

As long as they can keep fixing elections, what do they have to fear from the majority?

As long as they can keep starving the government to death by refusing to tax the rich, the rich will make sure that every election is fixed. Read about the Paris Hilton tax cut here.

Oh, and they can keep fixing elections, too, thanks to House Republicans "rebelling" against their leader, and rejecting renewal of the Voting Rights Act. Read about it here.

The Republicans are NOT "in touch" with Americans - unless you're a millionaire American.

Welcome to the Cold Civil War, everyone. Can't stay cold for long...

Can't we all just agree...

that something is really wrong with the temperatures on this planet?

Analysis of seven - count them, seven - major studies confirms that we are living, by far, in the hottest times of the last 400 years, if not the last millenium!

Even if humans are not responsible for the change, should we just stick our heads in the sand and say, "Oh well?" Or should we try to do something about it?

Do we stand and fight, or cut and run, as the Republicans would want to do?

Read the story here.

I hope the 29% are happy.

Congress voted against not one, but TWO minimum-wage-raising bills today.

The telling quote so far? (from the NY Times article here):
''This is a classic debate between two different philosophies. One philosophy believes in the marketplace, competition and entrepreneurship, and the second is a philosophy that says government knows best,'' said Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga. He said France and Germany have high minimum wages, but also high unemployment.

Are the Republicans saying that government does NOT know best? Then, doesn't that make US the fools for putting you idiots into the government? Or, are they just being hypocrites, since they think government (read: fellow Republicans) does, in fact, "know best" - that a raise in the minimum wage would hurt employment even further.

Any study I have seen on the effects of local minimum-wage increases has shown them to be a boon to businesses and jobs.

Don't believe the Republican lies on this one. Anyone who voted against helping millions of Americans earn enough money to not have to work three jobs deserves to be out of their current job posthaste.

Oh, I forgot, working three jobs is "uniquely American," according to Bush. That would be a good thing, IF the average person in the world worked FOUR jobs. Somehow, I don't see that as the case.

EDIT: Go Ted Kennedy! Just had to give props for this:
''Our failure to act is a moral outrage. Today's minimum wage is not a just wage. The people who earn the minimum wage are being exploited and that is wrong.''

So...

Exactly what "corner" have we "turned" here?

We're an occupying force in a country that is rapidly descending into civil war. If we can't protect such an obviously "high-profile" target, what are our soldiers really doing there?

EDIT: Another corner turned...
