No one needs to testify...

Yesterday, the Bushies decided it would allow Karl Rove and Harriet Miers to testify before a joint session of the Senate and House Judiciary Committees!

In private. Not under oath. No transcripts.

Where have I seen this before??? Oh, yes, I remember. Bush and Cheney's tag team testimony to the 9/11 Commission! Read the actual letter from Fred Fielding to the committees at TPM.

The committees' chairmen quickly pimp-slapped the White House.

Bush's response? “We will not go along with a partisan fishing expedition aimed at honorable public servants. The initial response by Democrats unfortunately shows some appear more interested in scoring political points than in learning the facts. It will be regrettable if they choose to head down the partisan road of issuing subpoenas and demanding show trials. And I have agreed to make key White House officials and documents available. I proposed a reasonable way to avoid an impasse, and I hope they don’t choose confrontation. I will oppose any attempts to subpoena White House officials.”

Good luck, punk.

Meanwhile, Bush loyalists claim that it's unprecedented for White House staffers to testify. ThinkProgress has debunked that, and we need only look towards what these neo-con bastards did to Clinton. We didn't hear them complaining when they asked his staffers to take an oath!

Mentioning Clinton and debunk in the same sentence reminds me: the Congressional Research Service has debunked the "Clinton did it, too!" BULLSHIT myth that they've been trying to implant through the complicit media, as we pointed out on Monday's show.

Also, in a related story, the Senate voted 94-2 (go, go, bipartisan!) to return the "interim" US attorney hiring procedures to the pre-9/11, pre-PATRIOT Act provisions. Take that, bitches!

Finally, David Iglesias reveals, in the New York Times, why he was fired.
