Quick hits:
- Philip Cooney testifies that he fixed the facts about global warming around the Bushie policy. Apparently, Darth Cheney's office told him to do so (link unavailable; see ThinkProgress). Anyway, according to a Repugnicon: "Free speech is not a simple thing and is subject to and directed by policy." - Rep. Chris Cannon (R-UT). You filthy, un-American FREAK!
- House neo-cons tried to add an amendment to the Gulf Coast Hurricane Housing Recovery Act of 2007 - over a year and a half after Katrina demolished the Gulf Coast - that would require those receiving assistance "to perform 20 hours/week of approved 'work activities' to receive financial aid for housing." As you'd expect, the amendment was defeated, 266-162. Rep. David Scott (D-GA) was appalled by the crass behavior of these GOPigs: "Where were you, where was your amendment when the Twin Towers were hit and the people in New york suffered that catastrophe? There was no cry before we gave them help. 'They got to go get a job.' Everybody was there and poured in help, as they should, the American way. Where was your amendment down in Florida when the hurricanes hit down there? Nobody said, “Make ‘em work before we help them'."
- From the "Soon to Be Fired" file: Dr. Elias Zerhouni, supposed "Bushie" director of the National Institutes of Health, has come out against the Bushie policy of "no new stem cell lines."
