Shocking US attorney scandal revelation!

Apparently, Carol Lam was fired because her investigation into the "Duke-stir", former Rep. Randy Cunningham (R-CA), and Mitchell Wade was about to get too close for the comfort of the Bush crime family... according to Sen. Arlen Specter!

ThinkProgress has compiled a timeline of the case, revealing that what started it all was a sale of "office furniture and computers" to Dick Cheney's office!!! Surprise, surprise!

Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) is calling for Karl Rove, Harriet Miers, and Deputy White House Counsel William Kelley to testify publicly regarding their involvement in the attorney-firing scandal.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) talks about the need for US attorneys to act independently of partisan politics.

Salon has a GREAT article discussing the records of the fired US attorneys and the records of some of their replacements. In the article, ousted prosecutor David Iglesias said, "I think Americans need to have full confidence that their federal prosecutors are above politics."

These firings were certainly "performance-related": if you do your job correctly, the Bush cabal wants you nowhere near that job!!!
