The aftermath of Gonzo's testimony

Most of the GOP seems to believe it is time for Gonzales to resign, though at least one neo-con hack, Rep. Chris Cannon (R-UT, who is chairing a subcommittee in the House's investigation), still insists this is nothing but a Democratic witch-hunt. However, the Bush administration is standing by their man, in the belief that a Gonzales resignation is tantamount to admitting that there actually was something actionable occurring within their ranks. Also standing strong is the "liberated" Oxycontin freak, Rush Limbaugh, who thinks that the GOP should defend Gonzo, even as he refers to Gonzo as an "idiot"!!!

Newsweek and McClatchy Newspapers both report on how Gonzales' testimony still leaves many questions unanswered.

One last tidbit from Gone-zo's testimony: He claimed that Western Michigan US Attorney Margaret Chiara was fired over "management issues." However, Minnesota US Attorney Rachel Paulose had, arguably, more "management issues" than Chiara - four top staffers voluntarily demoted themselves in protest of Paulose's management of their office. Any wonder why Paulose was not fired? Well, she's a beneficiary of the Patriot Act provision that allowed US Attorneys to be inserted without Senate confirmation, she's good buddies with Monica Goodling, and was an employee of the DoJ under Gonzo. She's a loyal Bushie, so, of course, she still has her job.
