Other news highlights:
Seymour Hersh: Bush and Cheney's "wet dream" is striking Iran. They're being told the truth - Iran's got nothing - and dismissing it. Face it, we're bombing them - the only uncertainty is when the bombing begins.
Reversing the Past: The Supreme Court voted today to limit the ability of schools to promote racial diversity in their student bodies. This flies in the face of past decisions, most notably Brown v. Board of Ed.; this vote was 5-4, with the 5 being our new neo-con cabal of Roberthomascalito & Kennedy (his name just doesn't fit...). We've lost Kennedy - he's gone to the Dark Side.
More Tolerance: In a new CNN poll, 79% of Americans believe gays should be allowed to serve in the military, 57% believe gay couples should be allowed to adopt children (take that, Savage Weiner), and 51% are in favor of some legal recognition of gay couples (whether marriage or civil unions). Any numbers showing "gay marriage" in disfavor has to be taken with a grain of salt: marriage is viewed by many as a religious institution whose name was co-opted by legal institutions to fulfill similar ends. The religious context of marriage gets people - rightly - in an uproar over gay marriage as a separation of church and state issue.
Caught! But Don't Worry: It's pretty much official - the White House clearly played a substantial role in the US Attorney firing scandal. However, the guy in charge of the investigation - Solicitor General Paul Clement - is also supporting the Bush administration's withholding of documents related to the case. So... the investigator finds guilt, but tells the White House that it's OK to cover it up! WE ARE LOSING OUR COUNTRY!!!
