Kucinich: National Hero
Some interesting voting transpired on the floor of the House this week. Kucinich introduced his articles of impeachment against Cheney and Democratic leadership was quick to want to "table" the articles of impeachment! In a vote on whether to have a debate on impeachment which took place, Republicans voted for the debate and most Democrats voted against it!! The Repukes wanted to have the debate in an effort to mock the idea of impeaching Cheney, since after Clinton's impeachment they have set this tone that "impeachment is a bad thing and a waste of time". No thanks to the media, cementing this idea into the numb skulls of gullible Americans on a regular basis. The Democrats buy into this whole "impeachment is a waste" concept as well, the Dems seem terrified of impeachment proceedings and were quick in trying to put it on the back burner. . The vote for debate passed (thanks to the Repukes), Hoyer still fought hard to push off the debate of impeachment and ended up with a resolution to send it to the Senate judiciary committee in hopes that nothing will be done with it. The bad news for Hoyer is that luckily a few Democrats still have testicles, and Rep Wexler is going to urge the committee to have a debate and vote on impeachment of one of the biggest enemies of democracy: Dick Cheney. AfterDowningStreet.org has the run down of voting with audio of Dennis Kucinich and information on Wexler's announcement.

Ahhh, good point Karol, I see your up on your facts.
Since you mentioned it, here is what happened (for those who do not know):
In his campaign for mayor of Cleveland, Kucinich promised to save Muny Light, the city's 70 year-old municipally-owned electric system which offered customers significantly lower rates than the private utility. His first act in office was to cancel the sale of Muny Light, which had been sold to its competitor, the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company, prior to Kucinich coming to office. At the end of 1978, Cleveland's banks demanded that he sell Muny Light as a precondition of extending credit to the city. Kucinich refused to do so, leading the Cleveland banks to force the city into default.
Many though Karol, feel in the long run this move paid off as Cleveland
still has a municpaly owned electric system which saves the consumers a lot of money. I will concur with you, Kucinich was unexperienced as a mayor and appointed many poor choices to positions, who were very unexperienced as well
Still, Kucinich is a brave man, a man who respects the constitution, and is not afraid to do what he feels is right, even if it is unpopular (as the case of Cleveland) As far as impachment, the majority of Americans are in favor of an impeachment hearing, and in this case he has a pulse on what the majority of Democrats, and the majority of independents are in favor of. He has more of a clue than the rest of the Democratic party, who are terrified of impeachment and instead chose to placate the Republicans. Kucinich is not interested in "maskig nice" with the GOP, he is interested in the RULE OF LAW.
But, Karol it was good to bring his record as mayor of Cleveland up. It is important. It dislays that Kucinich is not afraid to take an unpopular position based on principal. In Cleveland, it paid off in the long run. It hurt his re-election bid, but helped the city in the long run.
In the interest of fairness, good point to bring up

Oh, I agree. When Kucinich ran for president in '04, he brought it up on the FAQ page of his site. "Is it true you bankrupted Cleveland." "No." Hahaha. Sorry, always found that hilarious. There was also an mp3 on how to pronounce his name but I assume people know it now.
By the by, when you say "most Americans" support stuff, aren't you mostly just talking about yourself and people you know?

Karol, he's talking about the greater majority of Americans.
With all respect, it's you who are operating in a vacuum...
(Politically, that is.)
