Bush lies, the world dies?

A new report released today by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee released its report on the status of climate change science coming from governmental agencies and reaches an "inescapable conclusion: the Bush Administration has engaged in a systematic effort to manipulate climate change science and mislead policymakers and the public about the dangers of global warming." (full .pdf report) It shows that Bush has fallen in line with his corporate masters at the American Petroleum Institute, whose idea of "victory" was for John Q. Public to think there is much uncertainty regarding climate change and its causes. Gee, I wonder why... In today's press briefing, Dana Perino urged everyone to "wait for the Minority report" before assuming that the "rehashed rhetoric" of the Committee's final report is true.

We also know where Rudy "Fourth Reich" Giuliani would come down on this issue; after all, his law firm - which he has no plans to give up should he become president! - lobbied for the energy and utility companies in an effort to defeat the Senate's original energy bill (a heavily pared-down version will be voted on soon), amongst other favors. The original bill would have called for utilities to generate 15% of their energy through renewable resources (sun, wind, water)... oh no, what will the utilities do? There is, however, one energy company Rudy will NOT lobby for... Citgo. Hmm, who owns Citgo? Oh, yes... Hugo Chavez.
