Podcast is restored!

Right after I posted the podcast info, our feed crashed. One tag got deleted and gummed up the works.

However, the feed is now fixed, and all our episodes are available once again.

Next update will now come tomorrow afternoon, probably around 6PM.

The podcasting rolls on!

Hey folks!

Thank you all for your continued support of the ELPN through our blog, live programs, and podcasts!

As you may have noticed, we've been releasing double podcasts from time to time. This weekend, we're leading up to Sunday's podcast - Part 3 of The Walter Reed Saga - by releasing Parts 1 and 2, both of which are available now. However, these bonus episodes eat up server space.

Therefore, as of Wednesday, March 7, the following five episodes will no longer be available for download:

11/30/06: Michael Savage Hates Muslims
11/09/06: Victory Party! Part 1!
12/18/06: Harry Reid Goes Along With It
12/18/06: Can We Talk About Some Issues, Here?
12/21/06: Sound Clip Review, Part 1

If you have not yet downloaded these classic ELPN moments, this may be your last chance!

Again, thank you for your continued support, and we will be back LIVE Monday, March 5, 2007, on Indie Airplay Radio, with another incredible broadcast!

Peace, love, and a happy weekend to all,

Heckuva job Kiley! Walter Reed fallout continues!

Army Secretary Francis J. Harvey abruptly stepped down today, right after he fired Maj. Gen. George Weightman as the head of Walter Reed, after only six months. Weightman was then replaced by Lt. Gen. Kevin Kiley, who had previously run Walter Reed right into the abyss!!!

Was Harvey told to replace Weightman with Kiley and take the fall??? Defense Secretary Gates claims he had nothing to do with Harvey's decision, but we all remember Katrina, and how Michael Brown of FEMA tok the fall for Chertoff, head of the Department for Homeland security.

Those who fail keep their jobs in the Bush administration and sometimes even fail upwards! Kiley destroyed Walter Reed, and was promoted to surgeon general of the Army and commander of the U.S. Army Medical Command. Chertoff failed, and got to keep his job, while Brownie got ripped to shreds over the Katrina response. L. Paul Bremer failed to manage Iraq, yet was rewarded with the Congressional Medal of Freedom, as was George Tenet, after promising a "slam dunk" regarding WMD's in Iraq, and calling off the bin Laden assination during the Clinton years!

Kiley promoted after failing at Walter Reed and once more asked to temporarily oversee Walter Reed...

Heckuva Job Kiley!!!

We all know who wanted Kiley back at Walter Reed, and it wasn't Francis Harvey!!!

FINAL ANALYSIS: Bush administration hates the Troops

In today's Washington Post, we learned that the conditions of Walter Reed were known for years. Rumsfeld's wife knew, and when one of her friends, a volunteer at Walter Reed, brought Mrs. Rumsfeld to a gathering of military wives, she (the friend) was fired!

Rep. Bill Young (R-FL) and his wife, previously regular visitors at Walter Reed, were shocked at how our veterans were being treated. In return, his wife, who raised the issue as well, was removed from the 2006 State of the Union address (remember?) for wearing a "Support the Troops" shirt. At the time, she was told it was considered a form of protest... and, now, we know WHY they thought it was a form of protest!

Let's connect the dots further, in 2005, Chairman of the Committee on Veterans Affairs, Rep. Chris Smith, was removed from the committee after 24 years. He was replaced with a Bush hack (recommended by DeLay and appointed by Hastert), Steve Buyer, who, in one of his first acts as chairman, banned veterans' service organizations from presenting testimony before a joint hearing of the House and Senate Veterans Affairs Committees. This was done right before Veterans' Day!

This administration hates veterans, and anyone who tried to expose the conditions at Walter Reed, or defend veterans, was silenced and/or replaced.

Bernie Sanders on the middle class

The "freak from Brooklyn" (as Michael Savage calls him), our favorite senator, Bernie Sanders (I-VT), spoke on the Senate floor about the middle class and Bush's tax cuts.

Bush loves the children....

Bush's budget proposal would destroy the health of low income families! Families USA discovered that, if a family earns more than $35,000 per year, they shouldn't count on the government helping them. Try raising a familiy on $40,000 a year in Bush's America!!!

Speaking of children, the Consumer Product Safety Commision approved lead-laden lunchboxes. Nothing healthier for children than lead!

And the most disturbing story of them all... a child died from lack of dental health care, as the family could not afford an $80 tooth extraction, and the decay from the tooth spread to his brain.

America has the best health care system in the world, right??? Republicans are the party of family values, right???

Filthy Republicans strike when election nears!

A fired US attorney claims that he was terminated because Republican Congressional members pressured him to find dirt on Democrats... right before election time.

These filthy little worms are using the Justice Department for political trickery...

Speaking of filthy Republican trickery during election time... A right-wing smear machine called "Progress for America Voter Fund", who worked hard at smearing Kerry in 2004, was fined for violating federal limits as a non-profit group, specifically campaigning for a political party.

When it comes to elections, Republicans will always lower the bar, cheat, threaten, and smear.

Making us safer? More proof the GOP hates America

Republicans are threatening to veto a bill that would bolster our nation's security because it provides the opportunity for 45,000 airport workers to unionize. If they cannot have cheap and unprotected labor, to hell with homeland security!

Ironic point here: Lieberman supports the bill. Friction between Lieberman and the neo-cons? I predict Lieberman will roll over and side with the veto. (Ralph adds: He may not have to roll over, as there seem to be enough GOP bastards against the unionization clause to protect Bush's veto. If there weren't enough, then, yes, he would be against it.)

Once more proving they hate the working class, and don't give a damm about terrorism!

Jared

It's all Murtha's fault!

Republican Rep. Gohmert of Texas, on the house floor, blamed Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) for the stock market crash on Tuesday. This has to be the most ridiculous right-wing insanity I have read all year!!! These people are so wrapped up in talking points, reality evades them. The Chinese sold some of their assets because Murtha wanted our troops to be trained and have proper armor!!!

This is the Repubican party of 2007. They are indeed sick, degenerate bastards. 90% of them are unfit for office.

Abusing and silencing the military

Bush is so excited to get his "surge on", they are willing to send 2 Army units into Iraq... without proper training!!! Rememeber, Tony Snow told you they are "nimble", so no worries!!!
... Meanwhile, General Pace says the US military is broken and not ready for another crisis.

... Meanwhile, vets are being told to keep their traps shut at Walter Reed and don't talk to reporters. The Pentagon is also clamping down on any reporting at Walter Reed, including cancelling projects for CNN and the Discovery Channel.

The GOP hates the troops, and they hate when Americans find out how they are treating the troops. They are trying to silence the media and silence the veterans.

Yet they claim that it is the Democrats who hate the troops! After all, the Democrats are proposing requiring training and proper armor for the deployed!!!

Are you throwing stuff yet? I sure am!!!

GOP slowly killing Americans!

Poverty is now at its highest level in 30 years, yet corporate profits are at their highest. Greenspan is warning Americans about a recession as well, so expect that number to grow.

Meanwhile, the "moral" Bush administration shows how they really care about Americans by slashing FDA inspections. Nothing better for America than an unregulated food industry; business always looks out for the public first!

How much more will Americans take? The complicit right-wing corporate media will let this all slip into oblivion.

Al Gore attack debunked in seconds

The right-wing think tank that issued the press release on Al Gore, claiming he is a hypocrite for using sooo much electricity, left out two key facts.

A. The region Gore lives in uses around 50% more electricity than most regions in the U.S.

B. Gore's house is powered by renewable electricity offered by Green Power bought by his local electricity provider.

Hypocrite? Or victim of the right-wing smear merchants???

Right wing hate returns to the airwaves....

The last couple of days the radical right has been extremely busy on the airwaves - hating, dividing and lying.

Coulter returns to FOX news claiming environmentalists "hate the middle class." Ann, it's conservatives that hate the middle class... just another case of right-wing projection.

Glenn "penis on two legs" Beck trashes Gore, and calls An Inconvenient Truth fiction.

CNN Headline News displays its hackery, reciting right-wing talking points about Al Gore being a hypocrite. A right-wing, free-market think tank called Tennessee Center for Policy Research started the new Gore smear (about his mansion and the amount of electricity Gore consumes), yet the hack reporter calls this free-market think tank an environmental group! This group may have distorted its numbers as well, to make Gore seem much worse than he actually is. Also omitted from the report is that Gore's home is being fitted for solar panels so it can go 100% solar power.

CNN (liberal bastion, right?) had failed right wing hack Monica Crowley reciting RNC talking points: Dems hate the troops and are weak on terror.

Savage absolutely goes crazy with an anti-gay rant over Melissa Etheridge.

Glenn Beck also attacks Olbermann for destroying democracy after Olbermann called him exactly what he is - a bigot!

From the scum in the White House:

Lieberman lets it be known he wants America to attack Iran by questioning reporting on American intelligence regarding Iran.

White House mouthpiece Tony Snow blatantly lies about the military's readiness for the surge.

W gets on a baseball card!

A little light post for today...

The Topps company, makers of otherwise-fine baseball cards, has decided this year to do some creative photoshopping.

They placed a standing, waving George W. Bush into the stands on Derek Jeter's card, in addition to putting Mickey Mantle in the dugout.

I'm curious as to why they did this. It just seems rather odd.

More cases for Iran and more holes in the argument.....

Well, folks, after an exciting broadcast last night, where Ralph and I spoke at length about America's plans to provoke Iran into a war (among other topics), I found this article in the Times about the roadside bombs, or explosively formed penetrators (EFP) - different than the IEDs America has accused Iran of providing to Shias in Iraq 2 weeks ago. It appears these devices are not only made in Iran, but in the United Arab Emirates, and Iraq, as well!!! This punctures more holes in the case for war with Iran. We already know the IEDs have been in Iraq for 3 years and is not a startling revelation (as the administration suggested), that the Iranian nuclear capability is sketchy at best, and now this. Are we supposed to bomb the UAE because of the EFP devices? How about bombing Iraq yet again???

The mainstream media will continue to push the IED story, the Iranian nuclear capability angle, and, now, EFPs as the case for a war with Iran.

It happened to America in 2002. Broadcast journalism failed America; we welcomed the Iraqi war, and it will happen again. The mainstream media and right-wing think tanks are working hard to convince you that we should drop bombs on Iran. It is up to us to start debating alternate methods to deal with Iran. America's military is at stake, America's safety is at stake. Another war would be a disaster for our military and our country.

More on media issues...

Unbelieveable, but true!!!

John Gibson, FOX News host and radio commentator, had this to say about Anderson Cooper's coverage of the Iraq War:

"Oh, there’s a war on, there’s a war on. Maybe, just maybe, people are a little weary, Mr. Cooper, of your war coverage, and they’d like a little something else. Maybe that’s why they all thundered to [the Anna Nicole Smith] story."

I have nothing more to say; this speaks for itself!

Still think the GOP supports the troops???

In addition to the Walter Reed stories published in the Washington Post that we spoke about on last week's shows, we now have more evidence that the GOP does NOT support our troops, at least when they are not in-country as part of the occupying force.

1. Newsweek's cover story this week reports on the VA's horrendous treatment of Iraq war veterans outside of Walter Reed.

2. Newsweek also reports on 200,000 homeless veterans, including around 1,000 veterans of Bush's "Global War on Terror."

3. Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI) tells NBC's Meet the Press that the Republican-controlled Senate Armed Services Committee (which Levin now chairs) knew about the VA's problems at Walter Reed, but did not conduct oversight on the VA so as not to "embarass the President." Politics over troops, anyone???

4. At the National Governors Association meeting this weekend, governors from BOTH parties criticized the surge, especially due to how it strips states' National Guard units of men and equipment that would be needed in the event of a local crisis.

We need a new direction in this country NOW!!!

CBS and the Appeal for Redress

Last night, on CBS' 60 Minutes program, a segment ran on active members of the U.S. military who oppose the war, and are taking steps to appeal to Congress. They've even started a website for military members to join their crusade.

Unlike Lt. Ehren Watada, who refused to serve in Iraq, these brave soldiers continue to serve and do not plan on reneging on their duties. However, the military ARE allowed to be critical of the war, within certain constraints, and are allowed a degree of protected discussion with members of Congress.

We support the soldiers who support the Appeal for Redress.

No intelligence is Bush intelligence!

The UN, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has stated that the intelligence that the U.S. has provided on Iran's nuclear ambitions has proven to be woefully inaccurate. One might say that intelligence gathering is a tricky business, and we can't always be assured that we're right.

One might also say that we haven't been right since 2002, and that intelligence we provided to weapons inspectors in Iraq prior to our invasion and occupation was similarly inaccurate.

I'm waiting to hear tales of "mobile centrifuge labs," Condi Rice in the UN showing photoshopped pictures of Iran's supposed labs, and then the claim that "they moved the labs into Syria!"

You know it's coming. We'll be at war with Iran before the 2008 elections for sure - and quite possibly sooner than that!!!

Stunner in the Libby trial!

One juror has been removed for viewing outside information regarding the case. The remaining jurors have not been exposed to it, so no mistrial... yet.

But don't you feel it coming? The Bush cabal will somehow force this case to get dragged on long enough to not interfere with the other criminal enterprises it is involved in.

US attack on Iran is definite!

More tidbits of news came out over the weekend that provides further evidence that Iran will, indeed, be next.

A. Five United States generals have stated they will resign if Bush orders an attack on Iran, the Times-UK reports. High ranking members of the military are actually willing to resign before they follow orders from a sociopathic administration. When you follow orders from the Bush administration, you are following the orders of groups like AEI and PNAC. This administration is breeding distrust between high-ranking military officials and the executive branch.

B. Filthy little neo-con bastard William Kristol was on FOX News selling the idea that Bush can drum up political support for an attack on Iran. When neo-con think-tankers speak, Bush listens!

C. Sy Hersh revealed on CNN that America is already conducting aggressive military operations in Iran. It seems the covert war has already begun.

Bush gives money to al-Qaeda!!!

Sy Hersh (one of the few real journalists left in America) has a new article out exposing some startling revelations. Blitzer interviewed Hersh on CNN, in one of the few truth-telling moments on TV in recent days. The Bush administration is covertly funneling money to Sunni terrorist groups linked to al-Qaeda, because these groups are fighting Shia groups linked to Hezbollah and Iran. In other words, we are supporting the very same group this administration swore to fight to the death.

There is no war on terror! If we are willing to funnel money to al-Qaeda backed Sunni groups, how serious is the Bush administration about stopping radical Islam???

This is astonishing! Sadly, this information will vanish in seconds, as our lazy media will go back to talking about Anna Nicole Smith's estate and Britney's lack of hair.

"Consolidated media threatens democracy" - Walter Cronkite

The pressure for profits in the consolidated, billion-dollar media has destroyed journalism and truth-telling in the news, and threatens our very own democracy, Walter Cronkite recently stated at a Keynote address at Columbia University.

This is exactly what Ralph and I have been saying since we began our program in August. The amount of money to be made by the four corporations controlling the overwhelming majority of broadcast journalism and (to an extent) print media is depriving America of the reality of the state of the Union.

Two weekends ago, a report shows how Douglas Feith manipulated the pre-war intelligence that led us into Iraq. That very same weekend, the media's focus was on Britney Spears shaving her head and the latest "breaking news" was on the status of Anna Nicole Smith's estate. This is one of the many examples of what is happening to our media; if you're just watching the TV, you are not getting news that is vital to maintain America's status as a democracy. This administration snuck into law the ability for the commander-in-chief to declare martial law and to turn our own military against the people in October 2006!!! This story did not register a blip in the media until someone wrote an op-ed pointing it out in the NY Times.

This is what Walter Cronkite is talking about. A dumbed-down, celebrity-obsessed media creates a dumbed-down population that does not even notice that our democracy is being eroded by the neo-con bastards before our very eyes.

America had better wake up soon! This Bush administration wants to dismantle our democracy and the rule of law. The Democratic party cannot, on its own, save this country from the Bush cabal! Only we, the people, can save this country from a corporate- fascist takeover. Taking back the media is the first step.
