Media double standard: Edwards -vs- Giuliani

When Giuliani divorced in 2002, it was revealed that he was making $8 million a year in speaking engagements and more recently was reported still making over $2 million a year in speaking engagements, yet the media for the most part has ignored this opportunism as Rudy profits from 9-11.

Yet the media has gone mad over John Edwards receiving a $55,000 fee for a January 2006 speech at the University of California-Davis, with practically no mention of the millions that Giuliani has made doing the same exact thing, public speaking. So Edwards can't earn $50,000 from a speech, but Giuliani can earn millions a year from many speaking events?? When Giuliani's fortunes are mentioned right wing hack Tucker Carlson is quick to justify it because "Rudy is selling talent" .

This is another example of the MSM attacking Democratic candidates for anything they can possibly hype.

The sick saga of Dr. Laura and her troubled son !!

Deryk Schlessinger the son of Dr.Laura Schlessinger had his "myspace" page removed because it contained pictures that depicted rape, child molestation and other war atrocities. He has recently served in Iraq. Now we can understand why the military has banned soldiers from keeping myspace pages and writing their own blogs. They are revealing some of the horrible atrocities that occur during wartime. One has to wonder why the son of Mrs. Family Values herself would grow up to be a soldier who apparently advocates and may have participated in war atrocities.

He described his job as a soldier as
“running around this horrid place doing nasty things to people that deserve it … and some that don’t.”

The fake "doctor" Laura recently referred to fellow military families as "whiners" and said she is
“tired of all the complaints she hears from military wives who say they’re lonely and overwhelmed.” She later tried to talk her way out of the heartless statements on her blog.

Dr. Laura has some serious family issues and should not be on the radio giving anyone advice. Her son has some serious issues and apparently loves rape and war atrocities, and is a disgrace to the uniform and Dr. Laura ignored her own mother for years, who dies all alone in an apartment unnoticed for weeks!! She is your typical compassionate conservative hypocrite.

Bush goes back to the "bogeyman"

Bush delivered the Coast Guard graduation commencement and used the opportunity to resort to his administration's last hope with the American public..... The threat of terrorism and the "bogeyman" himself Osama Bin Laden. In perfect timing the administration declassified information about Bin Laden's plan to set up Al Queda operations outside Iraq to be used to attack American targets in Iraq. This information is almost two years old.
At a time where the Iraq War is at a low point in public opinion and the Democratic party has been trying to limit Bush's endless war with benchmarks and timetables (before caving in to the disappointment of many) one has to wonder if this information is a desperate attempt to drum up support for this war by using the dreaded name...... Osama Bin Laden. The idea is to downplay the civil war in Iraq and remind America that Al Queda is in Iraq.

More findings from the Goodling hearing.....

Goodling admitted during her opening statement that she may have “taken inappropriate political considerations into account” while hiring career employees at the department. Later during the questioning Rep. Bobby Scott grilled her regarding the way she used political affiliation as a criteria in civil service hirings. Goodling said "I don’t believe I intended to commit a crime." Rep. Scott asked her "You crossed the law on civil service laws. You crossed the line on civil service laws, is that right?" and she finally admitted “I believe I crossed the lines. But I didn’t mean to.”

In other words, Goodling broke Civil Service hiring laws when she asked applicants if they were Republicans or Democrats!!!!! Is anyone now surprised that Goodling had to get granted immunity before appearing today????

Tim Griffin's disgraceful voter supression scam as described by reporter Greg Palaste:
The RNC mailed these voters letters in envelopes marked, “Do not forward”, to be returned to the sender. These letters were mailed to servicemen and women, some stationed overseas, to their US home addresses. The letters then returned to the Bush-Cheney campaign as “undeliverable.”
The lists of soldiers of “undeliverable” letters were transmitted from state headquarters, in this case Florida, to the RNC in Washington. The party could then challenge the voters’ registration and thereby prevent their absentee ballots being counted.

One target list was comprised exclusively of voters registered at the Jacksonville, Florida, Naval Air Station. Jacksonville is third largest naval installation in the US, best known as home of the Blue Angels fighting squandron.

Goodling simply dismissed this Anti-American scam as simply a "direct mail term" and not the disgusting voter suppression scam it really was. I suggest the Democrats next hold hearings about Tim Griffin's "caging" operation...........

Finally, we learn Gonzales may have obstructed justice when he attempted to shape Goodling's testimony, Goodling made this revelation during a questioning by Rep. Arthur Davis.

Gonzales perjured himself when Schumer questioned him, Gonzales lied at a public briefing, Gonzales's DOJ used illegal hiring practices with the help of Goodling, and Gonzales's may of obstructed justice by trying to influence Goodling before her hearing !!!!

Factor in the voter suppression and you have one of the most disgraceful attorney generals in American history. Goodling's testimony furthur proved how dangerous the Bush crime family is to our justice system and to our democracy in general.

Goodling's opening statements were very revealing......

In Monica Goodling's opening statement before the House Judiciary Committee today we learned a lot of things. Goodling defended herself from Gonzales's accusation( made during a questioning by Chuck Schumer during Gonzales's appearance in front of the House Judiciary Committee) that she withheld information from him before he made a briefing appearance, so in other words Gonzales lied at the briefing (he pleaded ignorance regarding the attorney firings) and also to Schumer (when he blamed Goodling for his lies at the briefing).
She also alluded that Gonzales's Judicial Selection Comittee which included Sampson, hatched the attorney purge plan during an infamous meeting, which Goodling was excluded from. She claims she had no final saying with the list that Sampson compiled of attorneys to purge and only made minor suggestions which were never used.
Most importantly during her opening statement she admits she may have broken the law but did not intend to , when political affiliation and ideology was used for hiring criteria at the department of justice, including not only political appointees but judges and career hiring at the DOJ!!!
All of this in the first 5 minutes!!

Confirmed Gonzales lied to Chuck Schumer, Gonzales lied at his briefing and Gonzales had a direct role in the firings after attending the meeting with the Judicial Committee and civil service laws were broken by Goodling with her Bush hack driven hiring techniques of asking applicants about their political leanings!!!!!!

More on the Gonzo-versy...

The House and Senate are considering votes of no-confidence in Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. The House bill has already made it to the floor. Sen. Schumer believes he will have the 60 votes in the Senate needed to end debate.

Some Senate Republicans, though, are challenging it - and some, more directly than others. Mitch McConnell plans on introducing a "mystery resolution" should a NC resolution reach the Senate floor, which would effectively block the NC vote. Arlen Specter believes Gone-zo will resign before a NC vote even happens. Tom Coburn thinks Gonzo should resign, but will not support the NC vote. The White House considers this "nothing more than a meaningless political act" by the Democrats, and says the "eternal general" still has the "full confidence of the President." The President stands by his yes-man; Fredo claims he has said "Mr. President, we can't do this," but can't tell us to what (I suspect he was saying it as W was breaking out the K-Y...). So... uncovering corruption, crimes, and malfeasance is meaningless now; it wasn't so meaningless when we were arguing about Clinton lying about oral sex under oath, however, if I recall correctly...

In other DoJ news:
- Former US Attorney Jim McKay suspects reasons other than the purported "failure to uncover Democratic voter fraud" behind the attorney firings.
- Embroiled-in-scandal Rep. John Doolittle has lost whatever screws he had left that was keeping his head on his shoulders: Democrats in the Bush administration(!?!) have conspired against him!!!

Some quick Iraq notes:

Everything happening in Iraq now was predicted in... January 2003!!! The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence's report on prewar intelligence is coming soon, and this revelation will be a part of it! The CIA backs up the prediction that the US's occupation of Iraq led to support for al-Qaeda!

Plan B for Iraq may just be ousting al-Maliki and attacking Iran! There is cause to believe the Bush administration is ready to remove al-Maliki from power.

The Pentagon is making preparations for the US troop presence in Iraq to last DECADES... one of the main reasons is to protect the OIL!!!

End this war for profits NOW!

Bush says NO to states' rights!

According to the governors of twelve states - including Republican Governors Schwarzenegger (CA) and Rell (CT) - the federal government is blocking them from passing their own environmental protection laws! Specifically, these twelve states want to pass laws regulating tailpipe emissions.

Hark - the sound of the oil industry complaining: "Oh no, tougher pollution standards may lead to standards demanding more fuel-efficient engines, which leads to less profits for us!"

Bush has to protect his buddies, I guess... even if it means that the "states' rights" guy has to tell the states that they have no right to enact legislation that MAY prevent Big Oil from making record profits.

The FundaMENTAList Agenda...

... is converting ALL of America to Christian fundamentalism, according to speculative presidential candidate, and total political douchebag hack Newt Gingrich!

Democratic Sell out???

It appears that, after the Bush veto and all the drama revolving around the Iraq spending bill, the Democrats will cave in and and give Bush the endless war his neo-con thugs demand.

The Democratic party sells out our troops to special interests once more. They will not be coming home anytime soon.

Ralph adds: In fairness to the Democrats, they can only shout at a brick wall for so long. No one wins in this political "chicken" game that Bush is insistent on playing - least of all, our troops. Without the funding, the GOP would not be incorrect in claiming that the Democrats let the troops down by NOT passing a bill that Bush would sign. This whole Iraq spending bill will look bad for the Democrats one way or the other, and the Bush cabal knew it going in.

Ashcroft hospital visit: Unethical and illegal!!

Time Magazine picks up on one of the most amazing stories of all time; one that has been ignored by broadcast journalism! It is now starting to be picked up by the mainstream print press. US News and World Report is reporting it as well.

Ths whole incdent sounds like something out of a mobster movie!

14 traits of Fascism....

Do any of these sound like the current administration? Hmm...

Very slow news day but we still have to do a show... Here is your chance to let us know what you want us to discuss tonight.
