An unfortunate incident

The odds are looking against there being that super-secret-surprise ELPN show tonight.

Massive software issues have developed in the underground bunker that do not seem likely to be resolved in time for tonight's broadcast.

Keep watching this space for updates! UPDATE: No show tonight! :( (However, I will be going to finally see the Transformers movie. Consolation prize, perhaps?)

Other programming updates:
Podcasts will be going up shortly. The software debacle has fortunately not stifled that; what podcasts I put up will be contingent on whether or not there is a broadcast tonight.

Also, there may be a late show or no show next Thursday; I will be going to see the Beastie Boys perform in our hometown!!! :D The show starts kind of early, though, so I don't know if we have to cancel the show... Hopefully not.

Fast bites:

- No attack on Iran... in 2007, at least. (Look for it as the "highlight" of the "summer blockbuster" season.)

- Bush is losing the love of Alabama. Further proof that his stewardship of the country has been significantly less than stellar.

Bedtime for Gone-zo

As a political appointee, when members of your own party can no longer publicly support you, it must be time for you to be prepared to vacate your office. The best he can get is a former official stating that Gonzales is "splitting hairs" with his testimony regarding what the spying programs covered (data mining or eavesdropping?). The former official goes on to say that he "would not have said what [Gonzales] said" regarding the details of the program. Rep. Jay Inslee (D-WA) has introduced articles of impeachment against Gonzales... although they won't be acted on until the Congress re-convenes later this month.

The NY Times gives a synopsis of what all the current fuss over Gone-zo is all about.

The FBI reports that, since Director Robert Mueller's testimony (which contradicted Gonzo and opened up the potential for his impeachment) to the House last week, the DoJ has suddenly grown "cold" towards the FBI. Why would they do that? I wonder...

Pat Tillman: Victim of the Bush crime family?

AP reports:
SAN FRANCISCO - Army medical examiners were suspicious about the close proximity of the three bullet holes in Pat Tillman‘s forehead and tried without success to get authorities to investigate whether the former NFL player‘s death amounted to a crime, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press.

Let us take a trip down memory lane for a minute..... Pat Tillman's death was originally announced by the Bush administration as enemy fire..... later we learned it was friendly fire.... Now we learn that the gun shots took place so close to Tillman himself, it could have been intentional !!!

We also learned that the Bush administration is claiming executive privilege regarding investigation of his death. Why??????

I have a suspicion the administration carried out his murder! Iraq War veteran Jon Soltz thinks so as well. Remember Tillman was against the Iraq war, and was very vocal about it. How could the Bush administration busy selling their war, have an American hero like Tillman, speaking truth to power with the likes of Noam Chomsky? A War hero hanging and speaking with the libs?

Summer Of Fear!!!!

Last week we saw some scare tatics in full effect on the American people. The president made a speech (see earlier post) where he recited Al queda over 90 times.

CNN reports this insanity:
In one case last September, a couple in Baltimore, Maryland, checked a plastic bag with a block of processed cheese taped to another plastic bag containing a cell phone charger. Earlier this month in San Diego, California, a passenger checked a bag containing two ice packs covered in duct tape. The ice packs had clay in them instead of the normal blue gel. Terrorists could be testing the system, or could be conducting repeated operations to desensitize security officials, the bulletin says.

Beware of Muslims with blocks of swiss cheese and cold ice packs!! The terrorists are comming!!

Iraq: better now than when Saddam was in charge????

BBC reports:
Nearly a third of the population of Iraq is in need of immediate emergency aid, according to a new report from Oxfam and a coalition of Iraqi NGOs.
The report said the government was failing to provide basics such as food and shelter for eight million people. It warned of a humanitarian crisis that had escalated since the 2003 invasion.

I wonder if those war-crazy Bush hacks still think the Iraq people are better off without Saddam?

Side notes on Iraq:
In 2004, after the Olympics, the captain of the Iraqi soccer team spoke out against the US occupation in Iraq. Three years later, the Iraqi team has won the Asia Cup, beating the Saudis 1-0. Their captain has now also spoken out against the occupation.

Meanwhile, the only Muslim in Congress, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) took a trip to Iraq this weekend with a bipartisan group of congressmen. Speaking with some sheiks there, Ellison learned that they are concerned that "al-Qaeda is misrepresenting Islam"... something non-reactionary people have known all along.
