Late again

Hey, it's my birthday, give us a break! ;)

We'll be on around 10:15 or so.

Stay tuned to Indie Airplay!

Quick pre show bits....

Historians react to Bush's Vietnam- Iraq comparison during a speech earlier this week

A desperate attempt at selling the war fronted by , "Freedom’s Watch". It's a $15 million ad blitz Here are a few versions of the war propaganda from You-Tube. Here. And this one features an actual veteran!
These dirty bastards are using the soldiers to sell their filthy oil war.....
Ari Fliecher defends the disgusting commercial on Hardball.

Some things I'm looking at...

... but don't have time to fully blog right now as I will begin celebrating my birthday!

John Bolton says we should attack Iran - within six months!!!
The preview of Bush's "let's not make the Vietnam mistake by leaving Iraq" speech.
The military's surprisingly tepid response to the 82nd Airborne soldiers' New York Times op-ed.

Oh, and OMG I was right! The Bushies DO want to overthrow the "democratically"-elected leadership in Iraq!!! This occupation is ALL about the fucking oil production-sharing agreements! It has nothing to do with freeing Iraq from dictatorship, nor are we "fighting 'them' over there so we don't have to fight them over here"!!! With al-Maliki in charge, there is no way those PSA's will happen! When you act on the will of the people, you're not being a loyal Bushie, and thus you must not wield any political power!

This president is a COWARD.

It's official - if you disagree with President Bubble-Boy Bush, he doesn't want to have to hear you or see you. This Republican administration is concerned with solidifying power by making it seem like there is consistent solidarity with its worldview amongst the American population. They don't care what you think - they are going to do whatever they want, public opinion be damned. After all, we "elected" them... right? That means they have a "mandate"... right? These people are egotistical, power-drunk, fascist scumbags who should be removed from office at the earliest possible opportunity!!!

The document discussed in the article above was released as the result of a subpoena issued in a case involving a couple who were arrested for wearing anti-Bush shirts to a rally that Bush was speaking at. (See video of the couple on Hardball here.) The ACLU has made as much of the document as they received (sections irrelevant to the case were redacted) public in response to the utter contempt that the Bush administration shows to the American people. (EDIT: See that document here.)

I have HAD it with this incarnation of the Republican party. They are turning this country into a capitalist version of the Soviet Union! Those who dissent with the Party are being marginalized now - imagine what will happen if these freaks manage to solidify their power!!! They already have the authority to "disappear" American citizens for any reason, but actual "disappearances" cannot start until the public falls back in line.

The Republican party is a danger to our freedoms! Patriotic Americans should be REVOLTING against these prick bastards RIGHT NOW.

Ret. Maj. Gen. Batiste takes country over party!

What is this? A Republican - a career-military one at that - has taken his entire party to task for their bungling of the Iraq occupation from start to finish. It's no surprise that his target audience - fellow conservatives - were kept from reading Batiste's essay by the Washington Times and the Wall Street Journal!!!

Why won't the Republicans in our government listen to the military - to people who have served their government at the behest of its corporate masters - when the military is telling them that their policies have made our country LESS safe and have NOT conformed to traditional conservative ideals?

My favorite part of the essay is when Batiste says, "Many politicians of my party continue to argue that we must liberally use up whatever our military has left." Just feel the irony dripping off of that one.

Last Second bits....

Dennis Kucinich on privatizing Iraq oil, while we are on the topic (from You-Tube) He has my vote !!

Think Progress interviews Rep (D-PA) Joe Sestak. Very interesting, he actually mentions the Hydro-Carbon laws.

and from Prison Planet, neo-con think tank Family Security Matters organization(directly tied to the Bush administration), desires Bush to remain president and dictator of the World. I'm not making this crap up!

See you on the air shortly a little past 10PM (EST)

Reality on IRaq from the actual troops.

The N.Y Times ran an important op-ed written by seven infantrymen and non-comissioned officers. Their reality based evaluation contradicts the garbage that has been written by GOP operatives such as the infamous Michael O’Hanlon/Ken Pollack op-ed which the main stream media ejacuated in their pants over. I wonder if the MSM will cover what actual veterans have to say about the Iraq occupation with the same zeal they covered the propaganda with.

Just a taste of the REALITY based op-ed :

To believe that Americans, with an occupying force that long ago outlived its reluctant welcome, can win over a recalcitrant local population and win this counterinsurgency is far-fetched. As responsible infantrymen and noncommissioned officers with the 82nd Airborne Division soon heading back home, we are skeptical of recent press coverage portraying the conflict as increasingly manageable and feel it has neglected the mounting civil, political and social unrest we see every day.

These vets understand exactly what the media is doing, and they do not appreciate the false portrayal. Interesting, the soldiers do not appreciate false reporting on Iraq, yet the bizzare conservative punditry think it's "treason" to report the real news. Fascinating!

What is Uniting Iraqi's? The proposed American oil law, what else?

Alternet reporting on the Iraq Hydro-Carbon laws :
Despite the ethnic bloodshed in Iraq, majorities of Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds are united in their disapproval of the proposed oil laws that Washington and Big Oil are pushing.
If passed, the Bush administration's long-sought "hydrocarbons framework" law would give Big Oil access to Iraq's vast energy reserves on the most advantageous terms and with virtually no regulation.......

Subhi al-Badri, head of the Iraqi Federation of Union Councils, said last month that the "law is a bomb that may kill everyone." Iraq's oil "does not belong to any certain side," he said, "it belongs to all future generations."............

Al Jazerra reports:

A statement, signed by 419 Iraqi oil experts, economists and intellectuals, expresses grave concern that the newly proposed law would deprive Iraq from its most vital natural resource, oil, and give foreign oil companies ultimate domination over Iraq's oil wealth.

Iraq's intellectuals demand a fundamental modification to the proposed law, and a referendum, the statement said.

The passage of these oil Laws is a key component of the neo-conservative agenda. The privatization of Iraq's main natural resource was obviously the key reason why we went into Iraq. Experts, politicians and now the Iraqi citizens are realizing what is going on under occupation, grand theft! A recent poll conducted by Oil Change International (great site) show that the majority of the Iraqi people prefer the oil to remain state owned as opposed to foreign and feel that their government is not sharing enough information regarding the Oil laws.
See the Poll Here

Main stream American media has been ignoring this key issue in Iraq and instead for the last 2 weeks on a single op-ed written by Michael O’Hanlon and Ken Pollack(Washington post), 2 individuals who have always supported Bush's Iraqi efforts. The media spin has been " Two of Bush's critics admit their is progress in Iraq". Of course this is nonsense, both writers while not conservatives, have defiantly not been "Bush critics".

This is the important news because regardless of how the "surge " is doing militarily, politically this is a huge problem. The Iraqi government is becoming less and less legitimate in the eyes of the Iraqi people. Apparently this version of the the Iraqi government is on it's last legs; and where does this leave the troops? Will we stay in Iraq indefinitely until the Iraqi Parliament signs this law against the Iraqi people's wishes or will we have to prop up a new Iraqi government, more capable of selling the theft of oil to the Iraqi people? Meantime, the Iraqi people in the middle of a Civil War are starting to Unite against the American backed Iraqi government and the American occupation itself.........

It was a war for oil from the start, and this nasty business deal is the exact reason why our troops are stuck in a quagmire occupation four years later..........
