Running to Bush... or from him?

No matter what public opinion says, George Bush still believes in himself and his administration. He is so utterly delusional that he recently said, "...so long as [GOP nominees for President] are talking about me, we have a better chance of winning because our candidate will — what’s going to matter is not the past but the future when it comes to campaigns." The GOP response to that was mixed, at best.

Here's the reality of some of the Bush lies and hypocrisy - reasons GOP candidates should run screaming from the mere mention of the 43rd President:

- Mr. George "No Earmarks, Naughty Congress!" Bush stuffed his version of the budget to the gills with tons of earmarks! So, Congress' earmarks are bad, but his aren't? His budget also includes massive windfalls for his buddies in the defense industry, even as he plans cuts to major programs and screams about the "impending" doom of Social Security (a problem he has only exacerbated).

- In his recent State of the Union speech, Bush promised veterans that they would be able to transfer unused education benefits to their family members. Actually... he promised them that Congress would give it to them. When he submitted his budget for this fiscal year, that program was nowhere to be found!

- Chimp Boy is perpetually in denial about the state of the U.S. economy, even though his own Fed chairman is beginning to smell the fear.

- A study by the RAND Corporation - which the Army tried to bury - excoriates President Bush and then-NSA/now-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for not doing enough in the leadup to the war to insure that it was both planned properly and agreed upon by the various governmental branches involved. It finds fault at nearly every level of the Bush administration - news that must be stunning war supporters and military families. To add insult to the injury, in a recent speech, Tony Snow revealed that around 80% of Bush's advisors thought the surge was a bad idea.

I think the GOP presidential candidate should embrace Bush; it will ensure a Republican will not succeed him!
