Decision 08: The distraction continues

On last Monday's program I chose an excerpt from a Chomsky speech in which he explained how both political parties share almost identical agendas and the whole election process is simply a distraction(for the majority) ; since the framers of our constitution never intended America to be a true democracy to begin with, and the whole purpose of our governmental system is to protect the"opulent". A bit hard to buy?? Well after watching this election cycle unfurl I can unconditionally agree with Chomsky's observations.

The Democrats

Just when I started slightly trusting Obama over Clinton; reality smacked me in the face. NAFTA has been a big issue for Obama on the campaign trail; we have heard his promise to repeal the trade agreement repeatedly. According to a report from Canadian Television ; a campaign spokesperson called up a member of the Canadian government to assure him NAFTA will be fine with Obama as president, and Obama's words were just "campaign rhetoric". The Canadian Embassy denied the report as did Obama, but CTV stated their higher-up source from the Canadian government re-confirmed that these conversations took place.....

Is Obama a liar or is this political hackery? We know Obama is fine with the private mercenaries like Blackwater staying in Iraq and would actually increase spending on them, and now this?

Even after Obama voted against retro-active immunity for telecoms who spied on Americans without a warrant ; according to John Brennan, a foreign policy advisor to Obama(during a recent interview)

Brennan: There is this great debate over whether or not the telecom companies should in fact be given immunity for their agreement to provide support and cooperate with the government after 9/11. I do believe strongly that they should be granted that immunity, because they were told to do so by the appropriate authorities that were operating in a legal context, and so I think that's important.

Change? Not so much.......
